Kelp

Our class did writing about kelp. We did this blog because our teachers let us choose a main topic that we have already written. Here is some information about kelp.
Did you know that if you surf or boogie board you are on top of a underwater palace? It’s an ecosystem. Sea urchins live in it. It is called kelp and sea urchins eat the holdfast that is the very bottom of the kelp. The holdfast holds onto a rock so the kelp doesn’t get swept away. Also kelp can get chomped away. They get chomped by fish. There is another part, it is called the stipe. And another name for the whole thing is the frond. Also lots of animals live in kelp. Crabs, seals, fish, and sometimes even dolphins, and even more then that. Kelp can grow in one summer. Is that crazy? Also kelp can grow three feet a day.

  1. I learned so much about kelp from this post. So informative and descriptive. I loved the sentence about boogie boarding on top of an underwater palace!

  2. I love reading your blog posts, Max. You are a creative and interesting writer. Keep it up! Kelp is fascinating. It’s amazing how it supports so many animals and it grows SO fast. Maybe some day you’ll become a scuba diver and cruise around in it and see all that live action going on.
